Lori is the new member of our Womancare Midwives team:

My name is Lori Sabin and I began my path to become a midwife in 2009.  I enrolled at the Midwives College of Utah and began taking classes that May. I began my apprenticeship with Barb and Kendra in May 2012. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to learn the art of midwifery from them; they are beautiful, amazing women. I love the Midwives Model of Care that they provide to clients that desire an out-of-hospital birth and the lifelong relationships that they have with the families that they serve.  I completed my Associates of Science degree in May 2014 in preparation to take my certification test with the North American Registry of Midwives.  I passed my NARM test that Fall and received my Idaho license just in time to finish out my year in December 2014.

I was born and raised here in Bonners Ferry and moved home in 2011, after 21 years of military service and traveling with my husband and family. We have four very active and very fun sons, 14, 16, 19 and 20. Our oldest son is also serving in the military and newly married. I finally got a daughter out of the deal. I am so grateful to be able to settle down here and raise my kids in my favorite place in the world close to my family and friends.

I look forward to serving women in Boundary County who desire a planned out-of- hospital birth and the specialized, individual maternity care that every woman deserves. I am excited that midwifery and natural birth is making a comeback in the United States and hope to be a part of a better balanced maternity care system where healthy, low-risk pregnancy and birth can be trusted.
